Previous Meetings

  • September 19, 2023: The National Advisory Committee on Seniors and Disasters (NACSD) and the National Advisory Committee on Individuals with Disabilities and Disasters (NACIDD) held a joint virtual public meeting. The NACSD and NACIDD provided expert advice and guidance to HHS regarding the specific needs of older adults and people with disabilities, respectively, related to disaster preparedness and response.
  • May 25, 2023: During this meeting, the NACSD discussed its first recommendations to the Secretary of Health and Human Services.  This first set of recommendations focused on actions to be taken to strengthen and improve community readiness, infrastructure, and behavioral health.
  • August 4, 2022: The NACSD and the NACIDD conducted a joint virtual public meeting on August 4, 2022. The two committees provided a status update on their work since March on topics related to national public health and medical preparedness, response, and recovery, specific to the needs of older adults and people with disabilities in disasters.
  • April 6, 2022:  The NACSD held a public meeting session specifically to the needs of older adults.
  • March 30, 2022:   Joint virtual, inaugural meeting of the National Advisory Committee on Seniors and Disasters and the National Advisory Committee on Individuals with Disabilities and Disasters. During this meeting, the newly appointed members of the two advisory committees were sworn in as Special Government Employees, followed by presentations and discussion of challenges, opportunities, and priorities for national public health and medical preparedness, response, and recovery specific to the needs of older adults and individuals with disabilities in disasters.
