Joint Public Meeting: August 4, 2022


Joint Public Meeting of the National Advisory Committee on Seniors and Disasters (NACSD) and the National Advisory Committee on Individuals with Disabilities and Disasters (NACIDD)




The NACSD and the NACIDD will conduct a joint virtual public meeting on August 4, 2022. The two committees will provide a status update on their work since March on topics related to national public health and medical preparedness, response, and recovery, specific to the needs of older adults and people with disabilities in disasters. 

This is the second joint public meeting of the NACSD and he NACIDD.  For more details on the first joint meeting of these committees, see the NACSD/NACIDD Joint Inaugural Public Meeting Summary from March 30, 2022.

Register to Address the NACSD

The NACSD and NACIDD are inviting key stakeholder groups to address the committees and share their ideas on issues related to meeting the unique health needs of people with disabilities and/or seniors during and after disasters and emergencies. We are especially interested in hearing comments from representatives of relevant industries, academia, health professions, health care consumer organizations, advocacy organizations, or state, Tribal, territorial, or local governments.


The NACSD and NACIDD invite those who are interested to request up to 4 minutes to address the board in person via Zoom.


  • Request Deadline: July 29, 2022

  • Key Stakeholder Groups: Individuals who are involved in or represent a relevant industry, academic institution, health profession, health care consumer organization, or state, tribal, territorial, or local government.

  • Time Limit: To ensure that the NACSD and NACIDD have the opportunity to hear multiple perspectives from our stakeholders, we are limiting comments to 4 minutes per speaker or group.

  • How to Apply: Please send your request to present before the committees to both NACSD@hhs.gov and NACIDD@hhs.gov and include the name of the speaker, organization, and a full explanation of the intended comments. If accepted, ASPR staff will contact you with additional instructions.
  • Presentation Format: Speakers may send slides ahead of time, but those slides will not be broadcast to the public. Each speaker will have audio only. Captioning and sign language interpreters will be provided for this event.

Stakeholders may also submit questions or comments to NACSD and NACIDD ahead of the meeting by sending an email to NACSD@hhs.gov and NACIDD@hhs.gov, respectively, which committee members will consider during the meeting as time allows. Subject matter experts are also encouraged to comment on any item on the agenda.
