The ASPR National Healthcare Preparedness Programs (NHPP) Branch, which administers ASPR’s Health Care Readiness Programs, awards cooperative agreements to states, territories, freely associated states, eligible municipalities, and other recipients across the health care sector. The NHPP branch awards funding in support of the Hospital Preparedness Program, the National Special Pathogen System, and the Regional Disaster Health Response System.
NHPP leadership and funding improves the ability of health care systems to plan for and respond to disasters and emergencies. Recipients use the awards to fund health care coalitions (HCCs) and health care entities, support local and regional collaboration, enhance comprehensive readiness, and encourage workforce capability and capacity building.
In Fiscal Year 2020 (10/1/2019 to 9/30/2020), ASPR administered a total of $526 million in emergency supplemental funding to support hospital and other health care entity COVID-19 readiness. This funding was provided in addition to $248.5 million in annual funding for steady state programs. Learn more by visiting the COVID-19 Supplemental Funding Overview webpage.
