NDMS teams are organized and trained groups of professionals who help devastated communities by providing emergency medical care; staffing medical shelters or medical stations; augmenting hospital staff; providing veterinary care; conducting disaster mortuary operations; managing logistics; synthesizing data; and more.
NDMS responders serve on an intermittent basis. When NDMS team members aren’t responding to disasters, many of these people are the physicians, registered nurses, dentists, paramedics, and other medical and support professionals who serve in our communities every day.
