Are you studying public health, emergency management, or medical and health sciences?
You’re invited to volunteer with the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR)
Technical Resources, Assistance Center, and Information Exchange (TRACIE) Program. ASPR TRACIE was created to meet the information and technical assistance needs of regional ASPR staff, healthcare coalitions, healthcare entities, healthcare providers, emergency managers, public health practitioners, and others working in disaster medicine, healthcare preparedness, and public health emergency preparedness. We are looking for a driven and organized student that will assist the ASPR TRACIE team with special projects, technical assistance (TA) requests from ASPR TRACIE users, Topic Collection refreshes, and will provide development and logistical support for virtual events. The strength of our nation's public health and medical infrastructure and the capabilities necessary to quickly mobilize a coordinated national response to disasters and emergencies are vital to our national security. ASPR leads the nation's medical and public health preparedness for, response to, and recovery from disasters and public health emergencies. ASPR collaborates with hospitals, healthcare coalitions, biotech firms, community members, state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, and other partners across the country to improve readiness and response capabilities.
This student volunteer position is with the Technical Resources, Assistance Center, and Information Exchange (TRACIE) Program, within the Center for Preparedness (CFP) in the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
This is a
remote position with the opportunity for limited on site work at the ASPR headquarters in Washington, DC.
Student Volunteer Intern Position Description
- Support logistics for the 2nd Annual Medical Leadership in Disaster Preparedness and Response Virtual Conference.
- Support special projects as assigned, includes contributing to updates to existing ASPR TRACIE resources or assisting in the development of new resources.
- Assist with responses to technical assistance (TA) requests from ASPR TRACIE users.
- Provide coverage for relevant ASPR/partner webinars and conference calls.
- Support refreshes of
ASPR TRACIE Topic Collections.
- Support logistics for
ASPR TRACIE webinars and/or speaker series.
- Participate in ASPR or ASPR TRACIE staff events as assigned to boost professional development.
Qualifications
- In pursuit of a public health, emergency management, or medical and health sciences degree
- Excellent written communication skills
- Expertise in MS Office products (Word, PPT, Excel)
- Ambitious, self-starter, proactive

Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university (No Fall 2024 graduates)
Start Date and Duration
This position will begin in
October 2024 for a flexible duration of
90 to 180 days. The starting date is flexible within the month of October. The number of hours per week for this position will be determined jointly by the volunteer and the program manager.
