Community-Based Organizations during COVID-19

As the nation adjusts physical and social distancing practices, the risk and impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic will remain high for many at-risk individuals, particularly those with access and functional needs. COVID-19 is likely to continue to disrupt the lives of these individuals, many of whom rely on social services and home and community-based services. Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) play an essential role in helping these individuals obtain critical services and supports allowing them to adjust to the COVID-19 era.

CBOs are not-for-profit resource hubs that provide specific services to the community or to a targeted population within that community. CBOs include but are not limited to Aging and Disability Networks, Community Health Centers (CHCs), childcare providers, home visiting programs, state domestic violence coalitions and local domestic violence shelters and programs, and homeless services providers which work to address the health and social needs of populations.

The audience for this resource includes national, state, and community-based organizations (CBOs), human/social services providers, state and local government agencies, food banks, low-income housing providers, community health centers, and other leaders in similar settings who are responsible for developing and putting into action care continuity policies and programming during and after COVID-19.

This a living document; it will be updated periodically as new information and resources become available.
